How to Travel to Iceland?

I love Iceland. I’ve been there three times, and each time has been amazing. The culture is fascinating, the food is delicious (especially the whale), and it’s got some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It’s no wonder so many people are flocking to this Nordic island nation. But while planning your trip to Iceland can be a lot of fun, it can also be complicated if you’re new to traveling internationally or on an extremely tight budget. If you’re looking for advice on how to get around town and enjoy some must-see attractions during your visit, then keep reading! Here are all my tips for how to travel around Iceland like an expert:

Book tickets

  • Book tickets online. You can find deals on the Icelandair website or use a third-party booking site like Skyscanner or TripAdvisor to compare prices across different airlines and dates of travel.
  • Buy tickets in advance. While it’s not necessary to book your flight months in advance, doing so will help ensure that you get the cheapest price possible while still getting what you want out of your trip (such as extra legroom).
  • Check for deals and discounts. Airlines offer frequent promotions where they’ll give away free flights or other perks, so be sure to subscribe to their newsletters so that you don’t miss out on any offers!

Book accommodation

  • Book accommodation that is near the city center.
  • Book accommodation that is in a good location. It’s best to stay somewhere where you can easily walk or take public transport to attractions, restaurants and bars.
  • Book accommodation with good reviews online — people who have stayed there before will be able to tell you what kind of experience they had, so it’s best to book through sites like TripAdvisor or Airbnb where other users have left feedback about their stays at each place on offer (and don’t forget about AirBnB’s Host Guarantee policy!).
  • Make sure your room has all the amenities you need — this includes things like air conditioning, WiFi access and breakfast included in your rate if possible!

Book tours and transportation

If you want to travel the country and see all that Iceland has to offer, book a tour. Tours give you access to places that may otherwise be difficult or impossible for solo travelers. They can also help ensure that your trip is safe and comfortable by providing transportation and accommodations in addition to knowledgeable guides who know where the best photo opportunities are located.

Tour companies offer different kinds of tours depending on what kind of experience you’re looking for:

  • Public bus tours–These are good if you don’t have much time or money but still want the best view possible from an omnibus window seat. They’re also great if you love being around other people! However, they don’t usually provide food or drink (unless stated otherwise), so make sure there’s somewhere nearby where these items will be available before booking one of these types of excursions; otherwise, it could turn into a very long day indeed…and possibly even longer night…and possibly even longer morning as well!

Pack your bags

  • Pack warm clothes. The weather can be unpredictable, so pack your heavy jacket and a scarf.
  • Bring a rain jacket in case it rains (it does!).
  • Pack comfortable shoes for walking around the city or taking tours outside of Reykjavik.
  • Don’t forget to bring sunscreen! You may not think about it now, but the sun is strong and everyone gets burned easily in Iceland–even if you’re from California!

Icelands is a beautiful country and you should visit it.

Icelands is a beautiful country and you should visit it.

The main attractions in Iceland are:

  • It’s very expensive to live there.
  • It gets really cold in the winter, so bring warm clothes.
  • The country is small (and most people live in Reykjavik), but there are plenty of places for tourists to visit! You can see waterfalls and geysers all over the place!

Conclusion

Iceland is a beautiful country and you should visit it. You don’t have to worry about the language because most people speak English, but if you want to learn some Icelandic words before going there, check out our list here: https://www.language-exchange-worldwide.com/icelandic-phrases/.
